Upcoming talk

21–23 October 2026

Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi

We will present at the AgriVoltaics World Conference 2026

Jorrit Becking will present the paper “Beyond the Silver Bullet: Why Agrivoltaic Projects Go Wrong and How a Structured Design Approach Can Fix It” at the 7th AgriVoltaics World Conference in New Delhi, held this year under the theme “Powering the Global South”.

Agricultural output is now a condition of the permit, the subsidy and the loan: France requires 90 % of a reference yield, Italy and Japan 80 %, Germany's DIN SPEC 91434 66 %. The paper traces four ways the usual PV-first approach fails, with documented cases from Asia and Europe:

  1. Agriculture as a permitting fiction: plants with no real farming underneath.
  2. PV constraints that break the farming system, such as greenhouse vents capped to protect electricity output.
  3. “Something growing” instead of a farming system, such as ornamental crops grown only to pass the yield test.
  4. Losses hidden in averages, with yields that swing widely between years.

Against this, it sets out an envelope-first design approach: define the agricultural performance envelope first, then the PV layouts that stay within it. It tests the approach against documented failures in Taiwan, France and Japan, and calls for published yield data and standardised crop-performance assessment in every permit.

Project

Since June 2026

Republic of Moldova

An agrivoltaic feasibility study for Moldova, with dena and Fraunhofer ISE

Moldova is rapidly expanding solar power while agriculture remains one of the country’s most important economic sectors. Agrivoltaics could bring the two together, but only if the system works for both the energy project and the farm.

Commissioned by the German Energy Agency / Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena), AgRadiance is carrying out the site-level feasibility study for an exemplary agrivoltaic project. We are assessing candidate sites, developing the agrivoltaic system design, modelling crop and energy performance, and evaluating the technical and economic feasibility. Fraunhofer ISE is conducting the complementary country-wide potential analysis to find the most suitable regions.

Client
dena, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy
Partner
Fraunhofer ISE — country-wide agrivoltaic potential analysis
Our part
Site selection support, agricultural and site assessment, agrivoltaic system design, crop and energy modelling, and techno-economic analysis
Timeline
June to December 2026

Candidate sites are currently being assessed together with Moldovan partners.

Conference

3 June 2026

L’Usine Té, Saint-Denis (Paris)

Both founders gave keynotes at Solarplaza Summit Agri-PV Europe

AgRadiance’s two founders opened the summit’s first session, “Where the market stands: capital, crops, and country realities”, with back-to-back keynotes.

Constantin Klyk

Keynote, 09:30

The announced-vs-built gap: what Europe’s agrivoltaic pipeline actually tells us about where the market is going

Europe’s agri-PV pipeline runs into double-digit gigawatts, while the built fleet sits below three. Constantin traced the gap to three bottlenecks: permitting risk, regulatory timing, and an agronomic condition that banks cannot price. His conclusion: agriculture is not the income line, it is the permit.

Jorrit Becking

Keynote, 09:50

Plants under panels: what operational projects are actually delivering

Jorrit turned to the evidence underneath: what data from operating agrivoltaic sites shows about multi-year yields, quality, survival rates, water use and microclimate, and which factors drive it, from light distribution and crop choice to panel geometry, water and soil.

Two talks, one thread: the agricultural side of a project deserves the same rigour as the PV side.
